Hey all--
I was just wondering if anyone knew of a place on the web, or good advice at the very least, on what 70s-80s 4banger Volvos will match up to what outdrives? Namely, I have an 89 Baretta 20 footer with an AQ131 and a 270 outdrive, I believe. I bought the boat with the motor disassembled, and am finding out that the motor has been hacked on pretty good, and appears to have a car head on it. Short of throwing good money after bad money, I have decided to just find a good running replacement motor to drop in. There are two I am looking at; one is a late 70s AC130, and the other is an 1989 130horse, the guy doesn't know the model number, but said it runs good. I actually am a mechanic, own my own shop, so the mechanics of it all I have no problem with; however, I'm a new boat owner, and don't know a whole lot about compatibility between different engines and outdrives. Any help would surely be appreciated!!
