milky trans fluid

hey guys i just fired up my port side new engine with a used v drive and ran it for about 5 minutes, but when i turned it off and checked the trans fluid it was milky. could it be the cooler or something else and how do you drain the fluid in a v drive? thanks.

Sounds like you cooler is allowing water in. You need to move fast here! Replace the cooler and drain/ re-fill/ drain until the fluid looks good. Delay and you might have to rebuild the tranny.

If the space is tight, you can always use the oil sucker to pull it out thru the dipstick

thanks guys that is what i was thinking i'll do it saturday which is the next time i can get to the boat and hope for the best.
