Mercury thunderbolt questions

Hi, I'm new to boats so please be patient with me, I have a few questions about a mercury thunderbolt 500 50 hp pullstart engine I recently purchased.

1, The only serial number I can find is on a bracket that attaches the engine to the transom. It is 9006844 but I cant find any recognition of it on the internet. Is there anywhere else on the engine that a serial number would be stamped. I'm pretty sure that there isn't one in obvious sight.

2, If I ever manage to get the engine started, how do I stop it? Silly question probably but there is nothing I can see??

3, If I can't find a serial number is there anything else that I can use to identify parts? I need a fuel line/valve and also the throttle/gear cable and control.

Any help that can be offered will be gratefully recieved.

Thanks, Steve

The remote controls have the engine stop circuit. You'll need to buy asset.

Take a photo of the connector on the cowl for the wiring harness and look for a set of remotes on eBay (and etc.) Should be able to find them since that's a very popular motor.
