Mercury HP Upgrade

Hey Team. New member and 1st time post. I'm considering swapping my 1987 Mercury 35hp oil injected outboard motor for a 60hp Mercury outboard motor. The 35hp is a 1987 and the 60hp is a 1995. My questions are: is it possible for my current controls for the 35hp to work with the 60hp? Also, if there's a year range that it may work, I would also greatly appreciate the help. Any information with this would be extremely helpful. The oil injector will of course go with the 35hp. Thank You All.

lookup the part numbers for the old motor and the new and that will tell you.. key is number of pins. check the plate on your boat for max hp.. thats a big change. don't be stupid and put too large of a motor on a small boat or worse a weak transom

The factory control box for your 87 35hp will work on a 95 60 hp. Pull for forward and push for throttle.
