Mercury 40hp timing

Rebuilt carb an need to set timing on engine. Problem is I do not have flywheel cover with timing indicator.Can I still time this engine somehow w/o timing light or do I need to get a flywheel cover? 02 40hp 2 stroke.Thanks.

The ignition timing on an outboard rarely goes out of adjustment.

Okay, how do I set the oil pump correctly since I inadverntly adjusted oil aarms when installing carb thanks

Yeah got a book,it's a Seloc a work of fiction I believe sometimes .
