I hae a 75hp mercuy outboard s/n 6558692. I have had what seems like a fuel starvation issue for some time. After the engine has been running at low revs and you go to power up the engine seems to cut out. By throttling back you can keep the engine running and after you have powered on and powered off a few times the engine will return to normal. I originally thought it was the fuel pump as the spring and cap was missing from behind the diaphragm (triangle pump). The engine starts fine and runs on tick over, I tried squeezing the bulb constantly whilst the engine was running on low revs but the engine did the same thing. When it gets over this problem the engine will run fine at high revs. I am trying to teach my Mrs to drive the boat but she is loosing confidence in the engine. When it does this it will always start again with no problems. I also would like to use the boat for wakeboarding but with this problem wakeboarding is out the window.
