Mercury 110 - stuck powerhead - continuing saga - stuck gear shift lever.

I managed to remove: the 6 nuts holding the powerhead to the body, the lower unit and all the other small items connecting the head to the body and yet I still can not get it to move. Question! The gear shift lever is stuck in forward gear, would this cause the power head not to come off? If this is the cause how do I free up the gearing mechanisms.

There is no need to disconnect any part of the shift mechanism or linkages.----Is the lower unit off and on your work bench ?

Yes. The lower unit came off easily.

Put nuts back on the front studs ( to protect threads ).-----Use hefty prybar and break powerhead loose.

Probably "gasket welding" I used a round end kitchen knife and tapped it into the gasket all around the base; this separates the PH from the DSH.
