"I have a 1989 5.0LX that has

"I have a 1989 5.0LX that has a noise in the back of the motor area. Engine mechanic says motor is fine, not lifters, valves, rocker arms, he doesn't want to waste my money to open and look. Outdrive taken off, yolks look ok, gimble is ok, noise is still there when motor is run.
Any ideas would be helpfull."

"I agree with fastjeff. I had an 84searay with 5.7, at idle it made clinking sounds. the rubber wore off the flaps in the exhaust y-pipe and they where making the noise.
If you take off the elbow in the exhaust you will see them right at the top of the y-pipe. they were cheap to replace but they where spacial order."
