After I dropped the lower unit my partner told me that the trany need to me in a forward gear. "opps"

What do i need to do now to correct the problem?
 
if you "seperated" the lower from the upper, it is no issue NOT to have it in forward. It is very important to have it in forward when reassembling.

When removing the OUTDRIVE from the gimbal housing, it is very important to be in forward.


For you, shift control in forward. Find the shift shaft on the lower unit, it is a splined shaft, twist it clockwise ( all the way) , turn the prop c'clockwise by hand,

now you are ready to reinstall the lower to the upper.
 
How far will the shifter turn clockwise? I start joining the lower to the upper and the shifter kicks out before drive shaft is in place.

I can see the upper shifter slot and it is to the far left is that in a forward gear or can I tell by looking at it?

First time impeller installation, impeller went well but having trouble get lower and upper units back together.
