"Hello,I have just purchased a Merc 18XD, I can`t find any imfo on the net,I was wondering if anyone could pls tell me what year it is and what`s the full throtle Rpm operating range?I am putting it on a homebuilt 11 ft. speedboat.I do know it`s a Canadian engine, thanks for any help Bill."

Do you have the serial number of the motor?

There were 18HP models in 1984 and 1985 that include "XD" in the model type designation. Post the serial number in the add message box below and maybe someone can supply the particulars on that motor."

XD indicates EXTRA DUTY and we

XD indicates EXTRA DUTY and we are really not sure what they mean by that.

if it has COPPER colored strip

if it has COPPER colored stripes then yes it was 84 or 85.
