mariner trim pin

ok so i now know the age and hp of my outboard, :) today the carb got stripped, cleaned, checked and rebuilt, i then checked the reeds and gaskets which are all perfect, new spark plug fitted, fuel tank cleaned and fresh mix in the tank, chucked it in the bin full of water and fired it up, four pulls and she was off and gurgling like a dream,

i have noticed however that the trim pin is missing :( now i would normally just cut up a screw driver or Allen key to do the job however i want to keep this engine all original as she is very very tidy and it would be a shame to start adding non standard parts.

does anyone know if there are any outlets that still sell spares for these motors, i can only find one pin on ebay but its in the states and they want £30.00 odds postage and £16:00 for the pin which is a touch much for a second hand pin.

cheers for any replies.

Is it the 12mm Yamaha pin or the 3/8" mercury pin? There are a couple of Yamaha pins on ebay.co.uk £19.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-ou...at_Engines_EngineParts_SM&hash=item56455c547d. Only one I could find, but will fit. Give www.outboardsparesunlimited.co.uk " in Kent a bell. Northwales outboard spares good place .Bill Higham in Manchester, hard to deal, but usually have a lot of stuff

thanks for the reply, not sure of the pin diameter but i will check today, i assume mariner / mecury and yamaha share certain parts depending on the model. so my next question would be what motors are the same as mine, this is going to hopefully help with the spares search.

thanks again for replying.

just realised i should have said its a mariner 4hp short shaft circa 1982 vintage.:p
