"Our 50 hp Mariner (dont know what year but it was just rebuilt) is hard to get running in water, but with a hose on it, it runs fine. Whenever we go in the water it starts and runs about 15 secs and then shuts off, and when you finally get it to idle you cant ease it into gear, you have to slam to the higher idle point or it just shuts off. It also has the original controls and right before the shifter makes the engine idle up, it sticks and is hard to push both in forward and reverse, it only does it right where it will start moving the boat. Anyone know how to fix these problems?"
