Mariner 25 running rough

Got the 1991 mariner 25 running after sitting for 12 years. New water pump, rebuilt carbureator. Seems to run alittle rough in general. Idle and high rpm. Not a steady misfire but sporatic. Running the mixture 32:1 since it sat for so long. Could it be a timing issue or should I go to 50:1 mix and see how it does? Appreciate the help on the initial start up procedure and locating parts. Maybe I'm just not used to 2 cycles.

Almost there!

Unless you were working at it,unlikely to be a timing issue.Have you changed the plugs? 32:1 won't do any harm, gets plenty of oil into the crankcase.A seal gone maybe. They tend to harden when sitting for long time

That would have been the first port of call:eek:,followed by spark check, but if she is running, hook up a timing light on each plug and see what cyl the miss is on

Carb may have some hard fuel varnish deposits in the idle circuits. Drain the fuel from the carbs and fill w/spray Seafoam thru the fuel hose on the carb. Let it sit/soak for 48 hours. It will smoke alot when you fire it up but it will run like a new one if the carb had hardened varnish problems.
