Mariner 25 been sitting a long time

I have a pontoon with a mariner 25 that hasn't been run in about 10 years. Anyone suggest a checklist before I try to startup? I have a feeling this is the first of many postings to come.

The water pump impeller will be bad !--------- replace it before thinking of trying to start this motor.

Get some smogging spray oil pull the plugs and spray in the cyls, Then open the throttle all the way and spray in the engine while pulling the start rope. As long as the carb was run dry the last time it was run it may be ok mixing the fuel 32:1 for the initial start will help just let it idle for the first few minutes. The water pump may be bad or go bad shortly so changing the impeller and thermostat wouldnt hurt. Drain the gearbox and pressure test it while you have it out repair as necessary. New plugs and grease all the fittings. If you give it a thourough service now it is less likely to fail you out there.[/QUOTE]
