Manual operation of power tilt 2000 4.3 L

I have a 2000 Glastron with a volvo penta 4.3 with a SX outdrive. My power tilt is functional going up but not going down. I need to get the boat to the public access and out of the water to work on it. The access is a ways away and my out drive is up currently. Is there a manual way to lower the out drive without damaging it? Another thought is unplug the wires and go direct to the battery? My concern is that I may damage something. Any ideas would be appreciated

Re: Manual operation of power tilt

Somewhere on the side of the pump should be a recess with a flat tip screw in it. If you back this out a ways it will bypass the pump and you can lift or let the outdrive down.

Re: Manual operation of power tilt

Thanks Gary, when I turn this screw (haven't looked yet but I'm sure its there) will the outdrive come crashing down or will it go slowly if I only turn the screw a little bit?

Re: Manual operation of power tilt

No, it won't slam down unless you turn the screw very fast. The recess will have the flat tip screw head and a circlip to keep it from backing all the way out.
