"Will be changing manifolds and risers on my 1977 270hp 350's. My engines have around 2100hrs but run real good, burn no oil and have solid compression. The manifolds are about 9 years old so it is time, any general advice before I jump in, this will be my first time changing manifolds."

"Good move. Get the mating surfaces super clean, and do NOT use any sealer: Gobs of dry sealer can get into the tiny openings at the end of the risers and pay hell with them.

PS: Be sure you drain the manifolds and engine BEFORE removing the old parts! If not, you can end up with water in the exhaust ports."

"Thanks for the info. Is there any particular pattern that should be used to tighten the manifold bolts? and what torque to use. Will the manifolds and engines drain completly if the plugs are pulled, seems like a read somewhere about using a shop vac to suck out the water.
