Oh so what would be the best way to check if it's pumping well out on the water?

Ok so if I can rts it in a big drum of water that should tell me if pump is good ?

Right. Be sure the cavitation plate is several inches under water.

if my memory serves me right you are still missing one bolt on the lower unit, there should six (6) that hold the LU on

Hi only five that I can see, two on each side and one sunken nut at the rear plus two bloody dowels that I'm sure are seized !!

Ok so I can't find a container big enough to test the motor, so going to head down to the sea on Saturday and take her out for the first time !!
