Lower Pump case

I need to replace shaft seals on my 1986 (?) M70A2 and can't remove the lower water pump case. I tried to pry it off with screwdriver slots and it does move but don't want to break anything. Suggestions?

Patience and wedges. Maybe a little penetrating oil. Try to keep it square as it comes up, to reduce jamming.

Thanks for your quick reply. Your advice worked just fine.
One more question, there are 2 tiny holes thru the case which were filled in with some type of glue, should these be cleaned out?
 
Yes, probably. Could be just a sloppy gasket sealer installation. Obviously you must keep water out of the LU. Do you have a photo?
