Lower leg

Hey, my gears are sized on my 9.9 Evinrude 1990 model. I can get my hands on a 1988 lower unit. Will this fit my engine. Cheers

Welcome. Yes...it will fit. Be sure for the water pump impeller....get a new one, eh?. Has it been pressure and/or vacuum tested. Short or longshaft....? Does it come with the shaft? Your old shaft may be worn at upper bearing. Splines can wear out too, where shaft enters the powerhead, (crankshaft).

Hey. Thanks for the info. I'm buying the whole 1988 motor. Short shaft. Nothing been tested yet. Haven't looked into it much. Just wanted to see if possible first lol

A wise move would be to install a seal kit in the 1988 lower unit.
