Looking into buying 1973 Merc 1500

Engine has been rebuilt from pistons to piston sleeves to bearings and distributor cap. For Boat and Motor both restored 2500. Is this a good deal or is the engine just to old even with the new upgrades. Also do these engines have trim and tilt? Any opinions suggestions and information would be greatly appreciated!!

These engines are a great design and smooth runners if in good condition.-------Power trim and tilt is available for them.---------If you can and will do the work on it yourself then it is a good choice.--------At least have a compression test done before handing over any money.------Ask some local shops if they will work on it , if you have no tools or knowledge of outboard maintenance requirements !--------------------

Can seller produce a work order on this? If it was rebuilt with new pistons.re-sleeved,internal bearings and cap the owner would have spent over $2000 to have this done in a shop.. I myself would be very cautious as honing and re-ring do not constitute a rebuild..
