"OK Im baffled, I just replaced the alternator and now my fuel gauge and voltage gauge jumps around. as soon as you turn the key on even before you start the motor. but still does it while the motor is running. I have double checked all of the connections and the grounds and can't seem to find anything wrong.."

Disconnect the alternator outp

Disconnect the alternator output and tape connector. Turn the key to on and DO NOT START. See if they stop jumping. Go from there.

"Remove the LARGEST orange or red wire first. Whether or not the jumping stops, REVERIFY the other wires are in the correct location. If the wires are all in their correct location and it still jumps, then it must be a defective alternator."

My 2 cents if lights or gauges

My 2 cents if lights or gauges do unexplainable things then you look at grounds whether its a boat or trailer. Try grounding gauges individually and see if that helps. Bob
