Johnson 60hp Hydro electric drive

Hi All, i got given an old model of the above. Not yet identified the year, but it is missing the lower leg / gearbox and i have been trying to replace it locally. I have been asked what the length of this outboard is. How do i work that out with the lower end not being there? Appreciate any help. Can post a picture later if that helps.

You need the model number.

Your location ?-----Post a picture of the area just above where the lower unit bolts on.------Most of those were built for a 20" transom.-----But there are quite a few of the 15" models around as well.----It will be a 1970 or 71 model.-----Those were the only years that 60 HP Hydro-Electric was marketed !---1968 and 69 were 55 HP and 1972 was a 65 HP model.

Yep, a 1970.

It is long shaft meant for a 20" transom.

Before you start buying missing parts make sure powerhead in in running condition
