Johnson 25 HP 1974 (25r74m) - Core Plug. How to install a new one

So the block I ordered from Marine Engine didn't come with a core plug. Is installation as easy as pushing in a new one?

Thank you for your time & response(s)!!

Just exactly where is this core plug you speak of? The only core plug on any OMC engine's powerhead is the one that might have the model and serial number imprinted upon it.....and that does not cover or plug anything.

However... to install a core plug (as on a carburetor) simply have the dome side up and sit it where it belongs. Now, have a flat end punch a little smaller then the core plug, center the punch and tap it just this side of flat. That seals the core plug quite well.

Joe,

If you don't mind.. One more question - is there an easy way to remove the crank shaft key? The edges on the one I have look a little warn so I ordered a new one.

Take a small punch and tap it in on one end. When it comes out a ways take a side cutter to pull it out the rest of the way,
