" I have just started to strip

" I have just started to strip down my engine to renew a piston,rings and gasgets, but im having difficulty seperating the head from the lower unit,I have all the bolts and studs removed but it feels like the crankshaft is held on solidly to the drive shaft. What form of action will i need to take to seperate this and how are they held together,any help advice or guidance in any aspect of this would be greatly appreciated. "

" yes its a salt water motor,but whats puzzling me is that I have all the studs out and the head/exaust housing joint is actualy broken but won't seperate, whats normal procedure for this? do they just pull apart? I have a manual but it dosen't deal with awkward problems. "

" Not to ask a stupid question but how do I disconect the shift linkage,and how would this stop the powerhead for coming away from the mid housing? Many thanks for your reply! "
