New to this outboard and new to this forum.
I have a Johnson Model J150EXEOM 150 HP, manufactured in 1995. I was servicing it after a long layup and when I pulled the air plenum off the, I notice the vacuum switch was loose. From the on line parts diagram, it looks like it should have a seal ring in it and a retaining ring on the back side of the hole to hold it in place, but mine had neither - it was just hanging there by the small hose and two wires. Can someone tell me if it is OK just to have it loosely in the bracket, or is it supposed to seal the hole. If it requires the seal ring and retainer, how do you access the back side of the plate to install the retainer ring?
