I have a new to me 1988 Johnson 28 spl and it always starts right up and I have it where it generally idles pretty well but at a little over idle it will run but miss like rrrrrrrrrrrrr miss rrrrrrrrrrrr miss rrrrrrrrrrrr miss and eventually die unless I give it more throttle. If I just goose it from idle to about a quarter throttle or better it runs fine.
I have cleaned the carb and it has helped some but I still have the low speed miss that no matter how much I mess with the low speed needle it doesn't go away.
