indmar 275 EFI cooling system - seeking an explanation

Hi, can someone explain the exact flow of water in my indmar. Am I correct:
The raw water from lake enters impeller which sends the water upwards to thermostat housing ( i assume) .
The housing then send the water via J hose down to a water pump and from there into the engine to cool
The housing has two other hoses ontop, one to each manifold / exhaust

I'm learning to winterize by removing the J hose and pouring anti freeze into the lower opening where the J hose was removed from. I saw a video where doing this, the anti freeze did circulate in the engine and out of the block drains but the anti freeze also was coming out of the top opening where the J hose was removed.

How did that anti freeze get there ?
in other words, what is the total flow process ?
How does the anti freeze get to the manifolds ? is it from the engine or the thermostat housing ?
