I just bought a 14 foot boat and a 25 HP long shaft electric start evenrude used. I am getting it next week. I want to use it for duck hunting and would like to leave it in the water all winter. I live on the water in NY on Long Island. I have an ice eater for my floating dock and will tie the boat to this dock, can I leave this in and what do I do to prevent damage to the motor in real cold temps.

"You should be fine. The ice-eater will help. If you don't use it for awhile fog the crankcase & stabilize the fuel. Be sure you have a bilge pump in there a fully charged battery. As you know up here in the northeast & midlantic, we can get some pretty nasty storms. Like the rare 2' of snow we just got followed by 24hrs of rain yesterday."
