Impeller replaced

Replaced impeller on 140hp I/O merc. Now I cant seem to get the lower houseing back in place. It seems the shifter splines dont wont to go together.Is there a trick,would like to here about please. TY

Why Thank you very much. I see I was supose to remove the whole housing not just the lower half. da It would be better to turn it upside down so the shift slide would stay in place.

Well I replaced impeller and everyting went great, thanks again
