Hi.
We have two powerboats at our Sea Cadet unit - a RIB with a Mariner (Mercury Marine) 40 ELPT, and a Dory with a new Evinrude 60 BRP. I'm trying to rationalise the fuel tanks so that they are interchangeable between the two boats.
First step is to definitively ID each tank connector! The tanks may have preceded the engines, so I can't simply call one an 'Evinrude' connector without knowing for sure.
Can anyone help, please?
1) (On the Evinrude): 22.7L 'Duratank' with Johnson and Evinrude embossed on the side. Weird-shaped tank connector with irregular sides as shown. Distance between prong centres of 15mm. Female line connector 'fuel' socket (inside the yellow circle) measured as 6.4mm diameter.
2) (On the Mariner): 'Quicksilver', probably 25L. Distance between prong centres measured as 16mm. The internal size of the fitting shown is 35mm wide x 30mm high.
I'd like to replace the Duratank 'Evinrude' with another Quicksilver 'Mariner', so really need to ID what to get to match the No2 tank shown, and I'll replace the Evinrude's fuel pipe end connector with ditto.
Many thanks
(And why do manufacturers make such close-resembling connectors that have you spending 5 minutes trying to get them to fit...?)
