I bought a boat with i think a 1977 johnson 85hp motor. and i didnt get a key. so Im wanting to try and straight wire it to see if it will run. it has a 6 wire switch.
I was wandering what wires to touch to crank it. I know to disconnect the kill wire and I know the hot wire. but shouldn't there be a wire to control the firing the hot wire has to touch. for future reference thanks for the help.

Switch terminals are marked as follows:
M = Raised tower like terminal = Black/Yellow wire (Kill Circuit) Do Not connect any other wires here!
M = Regular terminal = Black wire (Ground)
A = Accessory = Purple wire(s) = Anything 12 volts is to be applied to when key is ON or at START.
C = Choke = Purple/White wire
B = Battery = Usually heavier gauge RED wire (Check it) Constant 12 volt supply
S = Solenoid = White wire (To starter solenoid)
