How to check the electronic ignition inside the distributer 1983 aq125b 270

"Please help... I have a 1983 bayliner with a (4 CYLINDER) volvo AQ125B//270... I know the boat came stock with points and condenser inside the distributer, however it now has an electronic pick-up module... I have 3 questions here...


-The small black pick-up inside the distributer doesn't fit tight to the shaft... (Is this normal to have play here)???

-Is there any way to check the module???

-What should the voltage be going to the module???

"Chris, I installed a Pertronix kit# 2842 in my aq-145a last summer and I do recall that the magnet wheel ( the black part which is pressed on the shaft should be, and was, very snug with no play. The pickup ,which is attached to the distributor, is adjustable to attain a specific clearance. The guys at Pertronix were very helpfull with the installation of my system. I would sugest you call them as well. Good luck!"
