How to check oil?

I have a 2006 350 Mag and I just changed the oil and it is reading high. I am assuming the level is meant to be read with the boat in the water where it sits with the backend lower as opposed to being on my lift where it sits level ?

look at this..........you should be aware of how much you added????

Ayuh,... So how much oil did ya dump in,..??

I dump in 4 quarts, start it, check for leaks, shut it down, then top it off to the high mark on the dipstick,....

That's about what I put in(5 1/2). It reads high on the lift but better in water. Not sure I sucked it all out since I vacumm it thru the dipstick into a big barrel.

Well it depends on how much over the full line you are.
Its better to be at or just below the full line.
Over filling can lead to the oil getting airated...

So suck some out until you feel comfortable with the level.
