Honda BF15 Squirting Fuel from Carb

Hi. New to this forum, and (of course!) looking for some help. Was given a Honda BF15, believe it is 1996, by a friend who used it as a kicker on his sailboat. Changed motor and lower end oil, installed new plugs, replaced fuel tank, hose, and fittings, cleaned her up and went out to start it this morning, and she did! However, fuel started pumping out of the carb from an opening in the top of carb that faces to the front of the engine. Don't have a manual yet, so not sure what it is. It also comes out when you pump the primer bulb. Help!

I was afraid of that. Trying not to tear it apart too much, but sounds like its time to a least clean the carb. Thanks for your response. CJ

Update: Pulled the carb and cleaned the goop out (and it was goopy). Put it all back together and runs like a champ. Not bad for a 20 year old motor. Gotta love Honda!

GOTTA LOVE HONDA!!!
Now...after you did your "due diligence".....you get to "drive" it for ANOTHER 20 years!
Because, that's how well they are MADE!
Congrats on scoring a SWEET old outboard!
