Honda 225 Performance issues

The performance on my Honda 2010, 225 had declined and would only reach 4,100 rpm's and idled rough. After reading on here of solutions, I changed the plugs (dropped the Denso and went to NGK's - based on advice received from a contributor here), changed the high pressure filter, changed the low pressure filter, drained the VST tank, and changed my remote Rancor filter. I don't know if only one of those things made the difference or if it was "cumulative", but it now runs great and will achieve 5,700 rpm's on a heavy deck boat and idles really smooth.

I would like to express my thanks for the many contributors and especially for Chalk and Honda Dude for the excellent advice. This web site is great for those of us with limited experience, but who can still do some maintenance with some guidance.

Gary, good to hear that. You did all of the right things initially, especially the HP fuel filter, which is the source of many fuel feed problems on this engine. Have a great boating season.
