Honda 2004 225HP charging alarm code trouble shoot- but only at idle

Hi All,

My Honda 22HP is throwing an alarm for the battery/charging icon on the panel. The boat starts and the icon light goes solid red and then an intermittent beeping alarm. If I put the boat in neutral and give it gas the alarm and light go off.

This started the first time I used it after putting a solar trickle charge on the batteries for a days while on the boat.

The volt meter reads 12V and I switched out one of may batteries for one that I fully charged at home. no help

Any ideas? I am thinking maybe idle needs to be turned up or alternator issue. Thank you for your help.
 
Check alternator drive belt tension.If okay a diode may have failed. After checking drive belt, run the engine and check the battery voltage at different engine speeds. Just a note, these alternators aee worth repairing if you can diagnose the faulty component.
