High Temp Alarm

1986 Johnson 60 HP alarm at trolling speeds. Water is coming out of cooling port. Water pump seems to be working. As soon as I accelerate to higher speeds alarm will go off. Could it be the thermostat?

I'd say water pump.

yes water pump, thermostat is easier, and if not replaced in years is a quick start, note: that motor has 2 pressure relief valves, may change rubber grommets seats,while cover is off, can swell over time with heat. and note: new springs are different (fell stronger) then old ones i removed, am now getting higher temps at cruise, so i did impeller, well evaluate next trip, may put one or both old ones back
