New to boating , over the weekend somebody dropped tie off line wrapped around my prop I thought I cut it all off how ever now that engine is stuck in forward gear?! Ever happen to any one ??

not much to go on in your post...what engine/gear/etc?

Assuming an inboard with a reduction gear, I'd say they were two independent events...more likely that the gear issue existed before and wasn't noticed...
