Help with a Yamaha Outboard F40BTLR

pimpintackle

New member
Thank you in advance for any help.
The motor will generally startup pretty strong after a pump or two on the primer bulp and just a little choke at the key.
It will run for about 60 seconds at idle and then die. If you try to give it any more throttle in that first 60 seconds it'll die almost like being air choked.
To me it sounds just like a fuel starve issue.
I have attached three videos.
Video 1 is off a jerry can into the front of the outboard cowling.

Video 2 is with a new fuel pump, fuel direct off a jerry can, new fuel filter.

Video 3 is back to the stock fuel situation from the on board tank and the original fuel filter, but with the replaced fuel pump.

Any advice please?

Completely dismantle the carburetors and clean them in a heated ultrasonic cleaner. Make sure that all passages and orifices are free and clear.
