Help replacing a carrier bearing on a 1974 mercury 500 50hp

After I push up the locking tab I unscrew that washer rite. Then do I just pull out the carrier bearing. ??
I don't have a specialized puller.

Does the propeller shaft stay in??
Mine is cracked.
I can't find one.
Can I get it welded??
I'm in a mess. 1st time boat owner
 
Some of those nuts are left hand thread.There should be an arrow on it to tell you.
The prop shaft comes out with the bearing carrier.I wrap a cloth around the prop shaft,put it in a vice,hold a piece of 4x2 against the gear case and bleach it with a hammer,the 4x2 that is,be careful,unlikely as it will,it could fly off.
Is it the casing that is damaged? It is possible to get it welded.Post a couple of pics,will give a better idea
