"while going through my off season maint. list i have discovered that my starboard shift controll is very hard to engage ( foward& reverse ). I removed the cable at the powerhead and it shifts fine , i can shift the shift rod by hand with no problem at all.upon hooking the cable back to the powerhead the problem returns also i have very little throttle when going to reverse and she sometimes stalls out when i go from foward or neutral in the reverse unless i shift her fast. Help"

"Ron.... I couldn't say for sure what the cause of that problem is without actually being there, however that type problem is usually caused by either a long cable that is flexing as pressure is applied or a cable that is starting to seize.

The above is assuming that the shifting procedure on that starboard engine at one time did shift properly and that you've made no changes."
