Hard pull-start Yamaha Enduro 25hp

Hi - I have a brand new Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke. It ‘s been stored in its box for 10 year (while I moved overseas). Never seen a drop of fuel, never been out on water. Extremely hard to pull the start cord. Suspected a seized motor, removed spark plugs, WD40 and oil in cylinders, motor turns relatively well manually with a spanner and even with a cord (minor resistance). As soon as I put the spark plugs back in -even 1 out of the 2- there is very strong resistance on the cord, in particular on two points during the pull. I am worried I’ll brake the cord or my shoulder. It feels as if there is excessive compression but I am not too sure, and completely unsure how to solve. Any ideas, help, welcome!!
PS: I even turned it in gear manually and impeller turns smoothly so I am ruling-out problem with lower part.

Racerone - Thanks!! I was affraid it may have to go to that.
Will I need that just to go through run-in period of the motor? Meaning will the situation improve eventually to return to “normal” with the pull-start? This will help me decide whether to invest in a basic start kit for a few starts or something more robust. I also prefer to limit weight on my boat and avoid a battery etc… long-term.
Any tips on how to spec the kit correctly and where to get a decent price? Is the fit the same on Enduro (appreciate you may not be a Yamaha specialist)…. Very helpful already!! Thanks a bunch!!👍

If Yamaha offers a starter motor conversion kit for that model I will be very surprised.

The two points where the motor is hard to pull would be the compression strokes. One for each cylinder.

It won't be excessive compression. That model only has a very low compression ratio. Try pulling a four stroke and then try pulling your motor again. It will seem much much easier.

Don't be afraid of breaking the pull cord. It is stronger than you may think.

Many thanks Boscoe - i have a 4-stroke mercury and it is much smoother to pull on. Also had a 15hp Yamaha 2 strokes before and never had that problem even when new. I thought this might be the result of prolonged storage or manufacturing issue. hence it got me concerned.
I will check online for a starter, meanwhile see which of the cord, my shoulder or the motor gives in first :).

Any further views welcome.

An electric start kit is in your future.

Snug harness and an extra pair of hands did the trick. Tough on the shoulders, but motor started nicely on a couple of attempts. Onto water next week-end.
Thank you all for your replies and tips, it helped me with the confidence to push on harder. Best!!
