Hi all,
Got my starter out this morning...wasn't easy, but was just as forum members described: 2 long 9/16ths bolts going directly up and 1 small bolt holding the starter to a bracket. The hardest part was working upside down with no room down there. Thanks to all who gave their advice.
I am going to try to get a replacement, rather than have it over hauled. The motor is a 1989 5.0 Mercruiser which I believe is the GM 305. Anyone know off the top of their head which starter will fit? The Seloc manual says it could be a Autolite, Prestolite, or Delco-Remy which isnt that helpful
