Gas Tank Crack

Hello,I have developed a crack in the gas tank again.Tohatsu Guru replaced the tank(thanks agaian) about a year or so.This tank developed a crack in the exact same place,same size and shape identical.Is ther a reason for this? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks MFS3.5A S Except for this this motor has been outstanding.

Sometimes the tank can crack if the cap is overtightened, or if the mounting bolts are overtightened (or installed without the spacer sleeves).

Thanks for the reply.I never put the cap on very tight,and the spacers sleeves are in place and the bolts just snug.But why would it crack in the very exact same place? Thanks

Dunno. Can only speculate that either your replacement tank had a similar achilles' heel, or it was treated in a [similar] way that caused that to happen. You could plead your case to your dealer, and see if he has some more insight.
