gas can paint

I am going to restore a 6 gal. outboard gas can (metal) what type paint should I use so the gas does not affect the paint If some is spilled when filling

Laquer paint holds up to gas. Duplicolor in spray cans from auto supply is laquer. If spraying from spray gun, acrylic enamel with hardener added will work and two part epoxy should work.
