"I have a gamefisher 3 hp that hasnt been run in about 5 years. It will sometimes start for a few seconds and then die. I have replaced the plug.

Anyone have any pointers on what to check next.
meanwwhile, I am trying to find a carb rebuild kit for it online."

"Skoorb, you didn't include the model number for your motor, but most of the Gamefisher line was built by Eska.

The powerhead itself is a Tecumseh engine. Any small engine place that deals with Tecumseh should be able to help you out with carb parts. If you post the model number I can look up the Tecumseh part number for you..."

"it is model 298-586190 built by tanaka. I managed to find 2 carb rebuild kits for it from tanaka, so I ordered both. I am presuming this to be the problem, but if anyone else knows anything else I should check, I would appreciate it.
