fuel sediment filter

on my 454 i seem to be loosing the fuel out of the filter i fill it up spin it back on runs for a bit then quits spin off filter and it is empty looks quite rusty inside maby sucking air. Tried sucking from a gas can directley at the filter same sucked dry. Any thoughts?
 
Mike are you sure you have fuel coming from the fuel pump? IF it is rusty in side, this can't be good for a free flowing fuel system. You should probably start following the fuel line backwards from teh carb and see if you can't locate an obvious problem
