Fuel Pressure Irratic

Hi Everyone,
I have a 2003 Mercruiser 4.3 two barrel carb with electric choke and electic fuel pump. The carb had been replaced twice, the fuel pump has also been replaced twice. The fuel is coming out of the top of the carb and the fuel pressure is too high. We added a Holley adjustable fuel regulator and every time we run it, the pressure changes on its own.

Any ideas as to why?

could be bad fuel pump....bad electrical connection(s) for the fuel pump or its wiring....or a restricted inlet to the pump...another (more remote) possibility is the alternator/regulator has gone whacky...

Did you buy the wrong pump twice? There is a low pressure pump for carbed engines and higher pressure for fuel injection. Airtex/Carter is the OEM supplier for Merc you can find their pumps online for a lot less than the OEM piece. Stay away from the cheap chinesium pumps .

Have you measure what the pressure is?
