Fuel Gauge Stopped working after fuel pump change.

I have recently changed the fuel pump on my 2005 Yamaha 115. It runs great now but the fuel gauge seems to be shorting out. I didn’t notice any missed grounds.
What would be the best place to start looking?

Ground the sending wire and see if the gauge moves to full. if it does the sending wire is the culprit. If not then it is a faulty gauge. Always check both ends of the wire for corrosion and continuity w/an ohm meter.

The gauge is only 2 years old. I'll try that, thank you!
