Forward and reverse... again

Ok, the questions just keep popping up, UGH!

Gear shifting is intermittent. I've done a gear case overhaul but still the problem persists. Any ideas?

if you completed a lowerunit overhaul, which means you went in and inspected and replaced bad parts and gears and the clutch dog is good no worn spots, then it is an adjustment problem on your shift cables, or you remote control (if its not a tiller model as you did not list the motor hp or model number, which does help us to help you.)
 
OOPS! Sorry about that. It's my 64 Fastwin (18 H.P.). Its a tiller drive. I've tried to understand how to adjust the gearshift linkage by using the service manual but I just don't get it.
